ConvertiblesDiscussed here are problems and solutions to convertible specific questions, including difficult to find part numbers and other convertible tech help.
First time posting here, bought a 1991 Camaro rs convertible a few months back, this is my first ever 3rd gen so I don't know much, lately I've just been trying to fix the little things wrong with it and my attention has now been turned to the tonneau release switch, I tested it and showed it wasn't getting any power, now I traced the wires to about below the driver's seat where I saw they both went into a wire connector but one had broke and fell out, so I believe that's my issue with the switch, but I also turned my attention to the red wire attached to my solenoids, now I saw it went from the driver's side solenoid across to the passager solenoid and then into my trunk where I traced it to behind the trunk light where It goes into this connector that isn't plugged into anything, and I've found no where for it to plug in, I saw an image online where their appeared to be something connected to the trunk latch mechanism but that is missing on mine? Idk if it's possible to buy one or if maybe mine plugs in somewhere else?
Makes sense, I've been able to pretty much confirm I need a type of interlock connector in the trunk in order for the release switch to work, do you happen to know where I could get one or if I would need to find a whole new latch mechanism with it included? I believe this is the interlock switch I'm missing? Photo is taken from another thread about the switch

Funny thing..When I bought my 89 iroc convertible back in 2007 the hatch pulldown worked but the housing was broken.I had a few good pulldown stashed away so I swapped it out and tossed the original one in the trash.(This was before I knew they could be rebuilt)
Anyway my solenoids never worked until one day in 2017 10 years later I found out about that plunger switch attached to the pulldown.During that timeframe I had parted several junkyard convertibles and had a pulldown with the plunger switch laying around.Once I installed the switch my solenoids worked perfectly.

So yeah that's probably what's up with mine too😅 you wouldn't happen to have a spare one would you? As idk how else I could get one without searching through the junkyard for a convertible model

It just so happens that I do have another one with the mounting bracket

.
Perfect, so would I be able to simply install that onto my pull down mechanism and it works? Also would I be able to buy that off you or work something out?

Yes…It attached to your pull down using the existing holes.
Id be willing to sell it for 50 dollars plus shipping if your interested

Only thing I'm concerned about and would like to know before buying is, I was under the impression this switch would be what supplies power to the solenoids? But I don't see how that switch would get any electricity? As the wires on my solenoid ONLY led to there, I'm sure it makes sense somehow I'd just like to be sure as I'm not an expert at this stuff yet

Actually going on from my other reply, I think it's draws power from wherever that black wire comes from, so yes I'd love to purchase that from you hopefully today🙂
