Will the fan shroud help alot?

I have an 82 iroc-z28 camaro. IT has a 305 bored 30 over so that would mak eit rougholy a 350. Anyway, i has a 2 core radiator but no fan shroud it runs around 230* when cruisin i assume this is bad. How much will a shroud help me? Also whats this about air dams helping cool down the motor. I don't think ihave one never looked cause i never knew about them. Also where a good place to get a cheap shroud cause i'm broke and i need one bad.

First off, you can't bore out a 305 to a 350. 30 over is more like 310 ci. Second, there was no IROC Z28 in 1982, only the Z28. Yes, a fan shroud will help you if you're still running the stock mechanical fan. You can look in the junkyard for a fan shroud off of 82-86 Camaros. The airdam is under the front of the car attached to the radiator support to force air up to flow through the radiator. Get one from the dealer if you don't have one, they're like 20 bucks or so. You can find pictures of what they look like by clicking the search button and searching for "airdam".

way to be evilcartman. I think you caught him slipping. A fan shroud wont make the car run cooler. It might save you from getting your shirt sucked into it though, that would be bad. But hey, a cheap and easy way to lose wieght fast, can't go wrong there.

Actually, yes, at low speeds and/or idle, a fan shroud will help you run cooler. At higher speeds, the airdam does the work.

Yes a fan shroud helps hugely with cooling, that is one of the 2 reasons cars have them. I went last summer without one running 230* in traffic, this year the car never goes above 200*. And this year I have a 180* stat compared to a 160* last year.
