whats wrong here?
I went to the junk yard, to get a dual fan setup for my 89 RS, I got the radiator, both fans, upper and lower fan mounts off an 89 IROC. Well I go home and start to put this all in only to find the lower fan mount is much longer and wont fit where the single fan mount was. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to make it work.
by lower fan mount, would u mean the part that would take the place of a lower fan schroud if the car had a mechanical fan assembly? or do mean the part that the fan it self attaches to( i believe one resembles a "K" and the other a "Y"). theres a link for this conversion. some one should know where too.
Very surprised to hear this. I did exactly the same thing, to the same car, from the same donor car, and everything bolted up quite nicely to the original lower channel and upper shroud. These dual fans each have a "Y" mount, 2 bolts bottom and 1 bolt top.
One thing I learned the hard way, these fans sit much closer to the radiator fins and actually sucked themselves even closer at speed, resulting in a circular gouge that opened several tubes.
Longer bolts and 0.20' thick shims (and a new radiator) solved that problem.
