cannot start car

cannot start car
When trying to start the car, it makes a putt...putt...putt noise maybe sounding like air is coming out. also the thermostat gauge rises pass the red zone car not turning over. dunno what it is but need help email me a shaolinz59@yahoo.com

Could be a few things like no spark?? But u need to post this quest. in a diff thread.
