radiator fan is loose or ?
uhm on my 84 Z28 L69 the radiator fan blade thingy is like really really super wobbly loose, like im surprised its not hitting the radiator, and is noisy sounding as its spinning to a halt after shutting off, takes forever to stop free spinning, what happened to my fan ? engine gets really hot like over 220/230, i put in new thermostat recently and had no change in temp, also i just noticed a wet spot in direct center of radiator directly in front of the fan center hub deal.. im not missing nay antifreeze though, rad is full, never ever had to add any fluid ever, so,
and fan does turn/operate, so ?? whats this gonna cost me and what do i need to fix it ? motor is fine, blade assembly loose, its a cheap plastic crap assembly,..
thanks for anything

i take it by the fact its plastic that its an electric. if its electric just replace it. You can get a nice one for like 50-80 dollars off the internet that will kick the snot out of the stock one.

all are electric in 82-92 as far as ive ever seen, at least on the V8's anyways. i dont want to spend that much on this car, im actually selling it, i need to find out what happened why the fan blade assembly is so loose on the fan motor like this, hasnt this happened to anyone else before ? i cant go and take it apart to find out because the car is my daily driver, have to drive it til i sell it. 84 Z28 HO305/700r4/3.73
thanks for anything..... are there any forums elsewhere where maybe knows more about these cars ???

if i recall correctly the plastic fan itself is just held on by a small metal washer with fingers that grip the output shaft of the electric motor. Theyre garbage and mine is starting to fall apart, too. The motor itself is on its way out. Just go to a junk yard and replace the whole fan with another, it cant be too much $. Just four bolts and a connector and your done.

sorry if my last reply seemed odd, working way too many hours this week, just got home and my daily driver needs to not do anything like this on me, replacing the fan with another just like it seems like not good idea cuz will probably just do same thing, and replacing with aftermarket seems pointless too cuz is not an expensive or desirable car apparently, is just a daily driver that runs good and looks halfway decent for around here, there are one of these cars in yards here, at least none with drivetrains including engine compartment components such as fans and compressors and pumps, usually boides are gutted before they even get to yards, so hmmm...
too bad GM couldnt have just used some type of mechanical fan and real shroud on these cars, sigh,,....
i dont feel lie buying a parts car just to get qa fan assembly that may not even be any good either, either, so hmm. im stuck really,
thanks,.

Hey, NP man... the one i have is still holding together after around 14 years of use. It sucks, but it still moves air. Odds are you wont have the same problem with another fan, and hey what do you have to loose? A junk yard unit either locally or off the internet will probably be ralitivly cheap.
