overheating problem

hey guys, having a problem with my coolant system. it was running hot, looked like the waterpump went out, so i replaced it, but was still running hot, then i put a new thermostat in it, still registered hot, flushed the radiator with one of those flush kit things, still got hot, and pretty fast. Now i just put a new sensor in, and my gauge doesn't seem to be working properly, stays at 0, i drive it for a while and turn it of, and then it jumps up all tghe way. HElP Please, anything would be nice. Oh and the top radiator hose seems like it has a lot of pressure in it, even right after i turn it off, not sure if thats normal though.

The first thing I'd do is go back to that new temp sensor. It sounds like there's an electrical problem there. Look for intermittant shorts and pinched wires. Do you hear any boiling sounds from the engine right after you turn it off? Is the inside of the radiator clean or does it look like a coral reef with all the deposits? Are you using 100% antifreeze? If so, don't. Water is what carries heat the best. Use 70% water and 30% antifreeze.

I just took it into the shop yesterday, i'm probably going to fork over a buttload for some dumbass thing, but i haven't had much time to work on it and school starts for me here in the next week. The radiator looks clean, its a few years old, and the antifreeze is mixed inbetween 50-50 and 70-30 not sure were at between. It has bubbled a couple of times, but not always, so i do know it is running hot i guess too. the top radiator hose seems to have excessive pressure in it, not sure but what may be a reason for that? thanx
