checkin a/c system for leaks?
ok guys i just swapped my engine and i had my a/c out and there was not a drope of anythiugn in the lines when i disconnected it. now that i put it all back together is there a way i can have it tested for leaks or that my compressor is good cause i don;t wunna spend the money on the r134 coversion kit and fill it up only to have it leak out in a week. thanks

DON"T USE 134a you will be sorry you did. USE R-12 or R-414B those two work the best in our camaros. Well the easiest way is to just PULL a vacum, turn off the gauges and let it stand over night and see if it will hold a VACUM. Make sure you check your gauges with the vacum test first and use a strong vacum pump. You only need to pull vacum for 5 min then let it stand over night. If it doesn't hold, you will need to get some die and find the leak. Also MAKE SURE YOU HAVE the right amount of refergerant lubercation in the system, you will have to add it into the back of the compressor ports. Also change your dryer (the big silver can thing by the fire wall)
