not your normal cooling problem

i asked this a while back in the trans section ....... i have a '91 RS 305 TBI with a five speed ...... i have a lot of heat coming from my console around the shifter from the parking break handel the ash tray even gets very hott ( like 150 to 200 degrees) and it burns my right leg ...... i removed the shifter plate and i can see the top of the trans is there soposed to be some kind of insulation or some sort of cove there that is missing ? maby someone has an idea if not?

thanks for any help you may have David

There's supposed to be a rubber boot there. You should not be able to see your transmission through your center console (unless the boot's not there)
