low temp fan switch

I know NAPA carries a lower temp fan switch that won't cost me the $45 bucks that hypertech seems to want for theirs. I went to NAPA today, and the guy behind the counter was an idiot. Anyway, to make a long story short, he doesn't know jack **** about anything, and the lowest temp switch they had turned on at 220, and of at 204. I did a search here, and came up with a switch that alot of guys seem to be using. Comes off an 87 Buick Regal with a 4.6L turbo i think. Part number TS-136. Anyone know what temp this one lets the fan come on at?

No don't know when that one comes on or gos off. I do know that Hypertech makes two. One that comes on at 176 and off at 166(part#4026). Or 200 on 185 off(part#4028). There about 45$. Hope this helps.

I dont think its too much better than the stock turn on temp but it is like 10-15 degrees lower than the 238 im sure. I was thinkin of gettin one too. but as we all know for some reason everone that works at these auto parts stores seem to be illiterate. Hopefully I will get a job at kragen. then the ppl round here will have someone who knows whats up.

I just bought a TS-136 from a local parts store. He had a spec sheet on all switches and TS-136 was the lowest. It is closed between 204 deg. and 220 deg. I will let you know how it works.

Did they actually stock this item??? All the parts stores around here exept for maybe the dealer does not stock this part and it pisses me off cause if I special order it I will not be able to take it back. So i would really apreaciate it if you would tell me how it works so I know it is what I want.

I think this is the info your looking for, however don't remember who exactly posted this...

"The stock fan switch for a 1987 Buick Regal VIN 7 brings the on fan on at 203*f off at 190*f. KevinC has one managing his aux fan, the ECM manages his primary fan."

EDIT: I just found a 195*/185* that costs less then the hypertech unit and a replacement for the t-type. Look into it, I know I am. http://www.rodneydickman.com/n20.html

Im thinkin I will probably order the 200-210 switch but Are we sure that it will bolt right in. Im thinkin im gonna go down to kragen today and have em pull one off the shelf for my car and for the straight four fiero. Although if it fits the six cylnder they Im guessin it should screw right in. I hope so thats a sweet *** deal.

I don't see why a fan switch from a Fiero 60*v6 wouldn't work, Parts America lists the threading on several aftermarket ones for both SBCs and the 60* as 3/8-18 THD. However, IMO The best way to check is to pull two out the box and see how similar they are.

I believe this one would also work in our cars. Anyone know for sure? The sensors look similar, but I want to be absolutely sure they are the same thread size.

After MONTHS of screwing with my fan not working, I finally broke down and paid Hypertech for their switch -- and IT WORKS!

My advise - drop the bucks, save the hours/days/weeks of heartache, and get the Hypertech switch!
