Ram air and cai
Ram air and cai
I was bored during study hall today(still in school at the time of this post) and started wondering about a ram air and cai setup on a Camaro. One of my freinds told me some wierd way to setup both of them at the same time. But I was looking along the lines of a homeade kit for both of them, I have a good idea of how to build cai from the tech articles, but I would have the ram air coming from American Sports Car Design. http://www.americansportscar.com/cgi...w.pl?s-650.jpg So here are my questions, how would I setup a homemade ram air off the hood, I was thinking of just getting one from a 4th gen SS, and then how would I run a cold air intake like David Tuschhoff's 3.5" Cold Air Intake, from the tech articles, and a ram air at the same time.
Thanks

Yeah it is! Instead of bringing up the cold air from the bottom of the car, you would be getting a direct hit from the top of the car right into a custom air box! I wouldn't do it. It would be more work than needed for basically little or no improvement over one of them! Good luch if you do go for it, sounds a little wacky though!

I swear I've seen functional ram-air for our cars for like $895 or something, I think it was from Hawks?

Hm, well I can't find it from Hawks, but I'm pretty sure I've seen Ram-Air for TPI.
Anyhow, the original question was for using Ram-Air and CAI at the same time, not having CAI and having a non-functional Ram-Air hood, so my question still stands.

You can use the Ramair II hood. Im pretty sure that they also make a air box for it to fit a TPI system. Try GT auto above I think they have the airbox.

Your right
I was not really thinking when I wrote that post, just some bored thoughts from study hall.
I want to get the ram air hood, and since I would be paying quite a bit for the hood, I figured I should at least make it functional. If I were to open up the vent on the hood, and just let air flow into the engine bay, would that be plausible?
Thanks

If you just cut the holes (or had them cut), the ram-air wouldn't be functional necessarily.... though it would effectively lower the temperature under the hood when you're moving so it wouldn't be non-functional... it just wouldn't be functional as ram-air.
If I remember correctly, the functional setup was only a hundred bucks more than the non-functional. So, might as well go make it functional if yer gonna do it, that's what I'm probably gonna do. Maybe. If I ever get money I don't have to spend FIXING the car.

I'm still not sure where the site is that had the functional and non-functional hoods with a hundred bucks difference...
but, here is where you can get a TPI ram-air box... I guess it just works with the ram-air hood as is?? Not sure.

I believe for the T/A style ram air hoods they charge $30 for the cut outs and $110 for the air box. I think it is up in Hawks! If thats what you want then it will work. As you can tell, lately everyone has been putting these hoods on. I don't know what you are talking about with both the ram air setup and the cai at the same time?
