Trying to install a Oil Temp Sender

Hey All,

I am tring to install an Oil Temp Sender. But my mechanic said the one I got wouldnt fit. I puchased the Nordskog "S8013" Oil Temp Sender.

I was reading in other articles of needing an adapter for it. So I was wondering if anyone knew what the exact size might be for this part to put into the hole above the Oil Filter.

Any help would be cool,

Thanks,
Rod

I want to know the same thing

Yeah I asked this a few months ago. I have an Autometer sender. When I called Autometer they said it had to go in the pan. I didn't like the idea of drilling a hole in the pan and having a bung welded on since if it didn't work right a pan change on our cars is a major pain. I ended up drilling out the center of a drain plug and pressing the sender in there. Worked great except after I put it in I noticed that it stuck out kinda far so if I hit anything (I've lowered my car) it's gonna take that out. So I'd much rather stick it in the hole above the filter but atleast with the Autometer one, the sender is just a hair smaller and a different thread pitch so it would be some work to have an adapter fit. I hope someone chimes in on this.

Re: I want to know the same thing

above the oil filter there is a hole in the block - most f-bodies have an oil pressure sensor there, either the one for the fuel pump, or the combined pump/guage unit.

Wow this is an old thread. LOL

So yeah, what I remember doing back then was we had a "T" shaped adapter go in the hole there above the oil filter. Then we put the sensors to both ports and all worked great.

Sadly that car of mine stolen and stripped, was sooo much fun. I have another IROC now, but am still fixing it up and not to the point of getting this sensor back on... yet. :-)
