problem with overheating

i have a 1987 iroc 305tpi 700r4, a couple of weeks ago me and my day dad put a edelbrock throttle body on,we put the coolant hoses back on it but forgot to tighten them, when we went for a ride the coolant sprayed all over the engine. after that i tightned the clamps and put some coolant and water in it (not measured) and when i run it now for about 20 minutes the water temp raises and the oil presure drops ( according the gauge) to right on the red line. I was wondering would it be because i didnt mix the proper coolant/water ratio or a more serious problem. Thanks alot for the help.

depending on your weather, you should run probably 50/50 in warm weather and around 70/30 in cold weather. the oil thing stumps me

unless you live in the arctic there is no reason to run higher than a 50-50 mix. in summer you can drop down as low as 20% coolant/water80%. coolant is not the actual cooling agent, its the water. coolant does more for freeze and corrosion protection than anything else. it also acts as a wetting agent for better thermal transfer. you probably have air in the system, try to bleed it. if all you did was change the TB its probably just an air pocket. make sure there is no obstruction in the TB inlet and output-packing perhaps?
