Running hot at high speeds, radiator ?

I am replacing my stock radiator with something new and would like to get something more efficient, yet stock looking and reasonably priced.

I don't know if this is my problem, but I have a 160* stat and at speeds of over 85MPH the engine gets progressively hotter until it hit 240*. The rad is stock and I have already cleaned all the debris out of it, but i think it may be all plugged up inside.

Could be a dumb question...BUT......

Overheating only at sustained / higher speeds is usually a sign of a missing or damaged front air dam. At speed, there's nothing to help air get up to the radiator.

Check you're air dam first, it can't hurt.

As for replacing the radiator, IMHO, the 1-core alum radiator that comes on the F-Body stock is plenty for even a STRONG engine. When I wrenched on G-Body's that was a VERY popular swap for keeping dropped in engine cool.......

Got the airdam. The car was jsut repainted and all of that stuff has been put back on as it was.

I may just get a new rad, how much are they?

If you replace your radiator you might want to look into getting new hoses for your application. They could be cracking and wearing out. So check them and you might be suprised when you take your stock one out. I was. It was clogged real bad plus cracked because it was plastic. To get a aluminum replacement. They are the same price.
