heater core is out

heater core is out

just bought my first camaro and am starting to fix it up.it is an 88 305 5.0.my heater core just went out and i nee to know where that is under the hood and if it is a hard part to change.it isnt expensive to replace,something like 25 dollars.i just need some help finding it.i also heard you can bypass it,i might do that for now till i can get someone to help my change it.if you know how to bypass it let me know.

You should be able to access the heater core from under the dash on the passenger side. Well, that's on Firebirds, but maybe Camaros are the same. If it is then you don't need to remove the entire dash to get to the core. I did this on an 88 Formula just by taking out some covers under there and unbolting the housing. You may need to feel your way around cuz the top screws you won't be able to see. From what I remember, it wasn't too bad of a job. To bypass it just join together the two heater hoses going into the firewall.

the one in my camaro took some time, but wasnt too hard. havent had to change one in any of the firebirds i had.

I had a hella time fixing mine... i never actually had the dash out... it was kinda dangleing over the center consol provind me with enough room to get at the core. i ended up breaking some of the plastic piece as well. the link formula sent is pretty much perfect.
one of the two hoses that goes into the core was kinked when i put iot all back together i had to use 2 clamps.. one to unkink the hose and the other to secure it to the core line

it is not warm,if you call the weather here cold.

my family is from montana colorado and minnesota so for me this isnt cold.but it is 40 degrees.today is the day i am changing the core wish me luck.i will let you know how it went.thanks for the advice everyone.
