electric water pump drive kits = more HP?

I was just wondering if anybody has tried an electric water pump drive kit like the mr. gasket, or the moroso one. I know they cost about $75 and are supposed to add a few horse power.

Extra weight negates the hp gain. Just get an electric waer pump from a 93 caprice LT1.

Are those a direct bolt on for a typical small block chevy? I'm just about to order my CSI unit, but the "factory" thing kinda peaks my intrest, think I'll call the auto parts store and see what they get for them, BTW-what the heck do they look like?

I work in a top end shop adn have been buildin motors for years esp. thirdgens. Honestly, putting an electric drive on really is not gonna make a very significant difference. Have you considered edelbrocks aluminum water pumps? Still belt drive, but lighter. Do you have underdrive pulleys yet?

just a little fyi, Adding an electric pump on an LT1 gives 10hp at teh flywheel, which is about 8rwhp. It has been proven on the dyno.

I run a Meziere electric pump - it's awesome. Did I gain any power? Probably a bit, but nothing dramatic. Every little bit helps. Aside from ditching a belt driven accessory, this pump is cool for two reasons. 1 - I can run the pump with the engine off to cool things down. 2 - It flows 35 gmp at all times, so my temperature gauge doesn't climb while sitting in traffic. Definitley a good mod in my book.

Also, if your belt snaps, you can drive safely to the autoparts store and get a new belt without toasting your motor.
