Car is gettin way to hot

Ok, problem with my car, when its sitting there at idle my temp starts rising pretty fast, (this is in mid day) now i took my thermostat out to see if i had a bad thermo, so i put the water neck back on with no thermostat in there, still gets hot, i also noticed my fan isnt turning on unless i use the ac controls, i've been told i prolly have a bad relay, i was wondering if i could also have a bad radiator, and if anyone had any pics to show me exactly where the fan relay is located

To start with, no thermostat will cause an overheat condition. I would just change the t-stat rather than worry about it. The fan relay for my car, 92 Z28, is on the left side of the firewall. There is a bracket that has two fan relays and the fuel pump relay. If it were me, I would get the engine to operating temp and see if tapping the fan motor makes it come on. If so replace your motor. You can also tap the relay when the fan should be coming on. You should also check for a bad coolant temp sensor, and/or a bad fan switch. A bad radiator would either be leaking or not allowing coolant/air flow. It is obvious if it is leaking. I would go through all of the other procedures for cooling system operation before installing a new radiator. If your coolant is very dirty, rusty looking, or has noticable pieces of stuff in it, your radiator, and also the rest of your cooling/heating systmem, may be contaminated and clogged. Good luck.

if the a/c turns on the fan then i couldnt really see how the fan relay is bad..

i would guess that the coolant temp sensor is bad because that would tell the computer to turn the fan on at a certain temp..
