very bad!

Last night i was driving home and gunned it on the highway, and then when i slowed down some, my engine was smoking really really bad and had redlined on the temp. gauge....i took it home and let it cool down some, and the next morning i drove it around to see if it did any damage to the engine, (which the engine seemed to run pretty good still) and then it over heated again, so before it was able to redline again i pulled it over and popped the hood and found the radiator hose had come lose from the block....what chance do you think that my engine is still alright? even tho i am swapping out the engine in a few months, i still wantin to have this one last me heh

The main thing I would worry about is the head gasket. If that is fine then all you have to do is tighten the hose and refill it with coolant and ure good to go.

hmm...how would i go about checking the head gasket? kinda new to the hot rod muscle car scene tho i know a little (and still learnin more tho if anyone knows any references where i can learn more on vocabulary and such, plz let me know) i know i've heard that if your oil and coolent get mixed, that usually means a blown head gasket?

Yeap, thats one way to tell, if your oil looks kinda like a milkshake then you definitely have a problem. You can also do a compression check to see if its leaking or not.

i ran a couple of times in my first car to the temp guage redline and it seemed fine... i had some major problems like water pump going up in 90 degree weather and i was about 30 miles away from home so i drove back and hoped for the best..
