4 core copper or 2 core alluminum?
4 core copper or 2 core alluminum?
I have a 84 camaro with a rebuilt 350. I have a stock radiator in it right now. I was wondering which will provide better cooling. A 2 core alluminum radiator, or a 4 core copper radiator. Thanks
i am running a stock replacement water pump, a 180 stat and a stock replacement modine aluminum radiator form advance auto parts for 118 bucks.. works nice..
i am running cooler now, i have a stock L98 350 tpi..

thanks for the input. I was talking to one of my friends and he said my best bet is to get a 4 core from a local parts store, rather than the 2 core allum. i have a stock replacement water pump for now, and a belt-driven fan. But the fan won't remain on my car for long.
I have a very thin (2 core I believe) alum radiator and a belt fan, and a 180* Tstat, I have not heard the fan come on once, granted it is not summer yet, but it never ever goes higher then the 170-180* that it should be @.
plus you will save a lot of weight with a 2 core alum vs a 4 core copper.

the 4 core copper radiator will cool better. copper conducts and disperses heat better than aluminum. however, copper weighs a lot more. I prefer aluminum radiators. I have a stock-replacement aluminum radiator from Summit, works great on my L98 in TX. I've never been over 180* in 110+ weather.

Sort of like how some people think platinum plugs are better, however copper conducts electricity better as well.
