dif. between a recovery and overflow tank?

What is the difference between a coolant overflow bottle and a coolant recovery bottle? I wanna ditch the ugly stock one and get a nice colored plastic of aluminum one found in the Jegs catolog. Can I just use an overflow or does the stock bottle serve more of a purpose then just holdng extra coolant?
Anyone running an aftermarket bottle with pics of it?

I have heard the term interchanged, but here's what you have to know. As long as the transfer tube that runs from right underneath the cap to the reseviour or tank is at or near the bottom of the new one it will function the same as the old one. There is an exchange of coolant back and forth from the rad to the tank. When system pressure exceeds 15psi coolant flows from the rad to the bottle, then as the system cools down it is drawn back to the rad. As long as you can keep the cold level above the transfer tube and have enough room for coolant under all driving conditions it should be fine. If you look at the FULL COLD and FULL HOT lines that is about the entire amount of expansion that occurs in the TG cooling system under normal conditions. I would still allow extra room for severe heating. You basically don't want the tranfer tube to be sucking air at any time or as the coolant begins to cool down it can't be drawn back to the rad. If the hose fitting was at the top, well you get the point.

ok to sum up what you said, I need to make sure that the transfer tube is at the bottom of the new overflow bottle. And I need to get a bottle that will be big enough to hold enough coolant so that the bottle dont go empty and the radiaotr sucks in air right?.
