temp problem

temp problem
Alright, for a long time, the temp guage wasn't working. So, my dad and i took the dash apart, and found that on the printed circuit board, there was a crack in the "wiring" going to the temp guage. So, my dad soldered it, and it seemed to work fine. Then lately, it has said it's been running at like 240, so we flushed the system, changed the temp sensor, and the thermostat with a 192* (i think) Now, the guage says it's going up to the red (260*), and when i brake, the temp goes down, and when i accelerate, the temp goes up. But, when i shut the car off and turn the ignition to on, it says right under 220*. what's going on?

Look on the driver side above plugs 1&3, there is a brass fitting with a single green wire. It is the guage sender. See if the wire is burnt and touching the exhaust manifold. If the green or sender wire is grounded the guage pegs. Check the coolant level and also make sure it is bled of air. Since the cluster was out and fixed look for any shorts or insulating problems on the flex board.

Stock ones aren't accurate anyways, I would go aftermarket - it's the perfect excuse now...
