more cooling demons...

well my cooling demons have returned... my electric fan crapped out. so i bought a hayden fan, the one that is for my car(92 305 tbi) anyway i also installed a 160 degree thermostat (the previous owner hot wired the fan to run when the key is on) before it jumped up to like 260!!!!!! superhot!!! ludicris hot, she's gone plaid...... anyway now it takes longer for it to run warm but it stays just under 220...???
i pulled the thermostat out and it still overheated, waterpump seems to be functioning there is no seepage from the weep hole. also it is flowing the water. there is no oil in the radiator or vice versa in the engine. any ideas ,i have searched, and talked to people..
is it possible i fried the radiator???
