Too hot

I got a problem here..i got an 84' Z28 which used to have a 305 engine but i just replaced with a goodwrench 350 engine, got away with the ECM and just started to break it in..now, my problem is that is running too hot..210-220 w/o ac 220-240 with ac...my radiator is a 1 row and i was told by friends i should get a 3 rows but everywhere i go they tell me "for that car, only 1 row replacement" so what can i do or where can i go to get this radiator....and of course...do you think car is running hot for been a 1 row radiator???....TIA

More info is needed. What fan setup and any mods. Is the airdam in place? I have the zz-4 block and it runs at the same temp as the old one, no change at all. In traffic it will come up slightly faster until the pri fan turns on but it goes right down very fast. I assume base timeing is set correctly. The stock Harrison radiator is very effective for almost all applications. I left my airdam off after the big job driving it home from my friends garage and it ran very hot. Give me some info and I'll try to help.

Danno..I will start thanking you then i will tell you that i'm a real newbie at this....about my setup only thing i can say is the is the old system,no modifications at all, mechanical metal fan w/cluch..about airdam, yes is in place...but i just took a look at it and is broke,is split from top to botton right in the center but it looks like it holds, there is like 1 inch on top that is keeping it together, now i dont know if with the car running it will or it is bending,i guess you can tell me that .like i said,a newbie..i will tell you this...i took it for a spin (35 miles distance) at 50-55 mph and temp was at 240..normal driving...now,do you think is the airdam or is it both...1 flow (row) radiator for a 350?

PS:Just in case if you need to know: 350 goodwrench engine, holley street avenger carb 670 cfm..edelbrock EPS intake manifold,Hedman elite ceramic coated headers with its Y pipe, flowmaster 80 series muffler as for the rest, stock stuff and some chrome.

Did it have a fan shroud and is it still there. Don't know about the airdam, but the airdam is critical for cooling. If it not deflecting the air it could be a factor. Is the coolant ratio correct, too much antifreeze and too little water makes it run hotter. I agree, 240 average temp when running is way too hot. Before going through a lot of work, I would double check to see if it in fact is actually running that hot. With the engine cold take off the rad cap and let it warm up some and compare the guage temp to a measuring device of some sort. It could simply be the incorrect guage sender, or one out of tolerance. I would make sure what the guage says is correct first.
