a/c blows on feet when accelerating????
when I have the a/c on in the car, when accelerating or going up hills with the cruise on the air stops blowing out of the top vents and switches to the floor. then once the strain is off of the motor it goes back to the top vents-how strange!!!! this is a recent thing, it has not always done it. it is also loosing the coolness. I am hoping it just needs a little freon. Any suggestions??? I just do not want to take it to the shop and them feed me a bunch of crap.

The internal doors that control the air flow are vacuum operated. You need a vacuum canister to store vacuum(if you don't have one) and/or fix where it's leaking. The floor is the default location for the vents. When you don't have enough vacuum to move the internal doors in the vents, it all comes out at the floor. Check the lines going to the A/C control and listen real close to the A/C control. It might be leaking enough that the low vacuum condition pulling a hill is enough to prevent it from moving the internal doors. It's not the freon.

ok... question..
i have a vert... the AC currently comes out of the upper vents.
i want the AC to come out by the floor so that the wind pulls the cool air up on me when the top is off... ive done it on my spitfire before, and it works...
how would i do it with my camaro? anyone have a diagram of how the vac motors are laid out? i would like to be able to switch between the top vent and the bottom with the AC on...

Actually, I need to revise my first post. The default location is the defroster(dash). However with a partial loss of vacuum it may switch to the heater location.
You want to run the A/C with the top down? Sure you can do it. Switch the selector to heat, turn it all the way cold--that will get you outside air to the lower(heater) vents. If you want the A/C to cool the air you will need a switch to kick-in the a/c compressor. Also, 'bi-level' will run the a/c and push air to both the upper and lower(heater) vents.
