Hot, but not over heating, how can I cool it down
I have an 89 IROC with the 350 TPI in it. It runs hot, and sometimes it gets to the red on the temp guage when the A/C is on. I just put a 160 degree thermostat in it, and I got a fan switch, but yet it still runs hot, around 240. Is there anything I can do to cool it down?

being summer it probably will run hot most of the time. a 160 thermstate won't help much. I think thats too cold for the car and it won't go into closed/open loop. Or something like that. I'm not really too sure but I do know a 160 is too cold for that car. I think you would be better off with a 180 thermostat so that way it can go into closed/open circuit. Other people have drilled holes into the thermostat so It can constantly flow.

When i bought this car, there was a black thing in the trunk. Kinda looks like a scoop. Is that the Air Dam. there is a piece missing from underneeath the radiator, where I think that goes. If so should I put it back, does it make that much difference? Would that cool it down? Is Catchen right about the 180 thermostat? What else could I try?

If that airdam is missing, that's a big deal. Replace it with one from somewhere. I get mine from the dealer at just shy of $30 a pop. If it still gets warm, try flushing your radiator. You may also want to pressure check your cooling system and make sure your radiator cap is holding pressure.
