ok there has been no response for a while so let me clearify a little....

the one "singled out" green wire i have has a female type connector which is the type that would slide on to a thin flat piece of metal (male connector). my original temp guage sending unit has no type of connector, it has this piece of metal that spins freely over the end of it. so i bought a new temp guage sending unit from GM part #08993146 and it has the male style connector. now if this green wire i have is the right one, i am minutes away from having a working temp guage.

can someone please help me?

You got it right, put that wire on there and Bam! you got a working temp gauge, hopefully. You can't hurt it by trying.

that is it, the dark green wire, not the one to a/c compressor though.
trace it from the bulkhead connector on firewall under brake booster
