Stock (but new) cooling system enough for 350rwhp?

Hello,

Real quick question. Dropping in a Super Ram 355 in the next two weeks, it's at the machine shop now, and I just wanted to see what you guys felt about the stock system being able to keep temps down on this engine. I will be buying all new parts, just stock parts. Here's the list

Stock Z28 aluminum / plastic radiator
Stock water pump (though VERY strong possibility I may go with stewarts)
180 thermostat
All new hoses
SPAL dual 11" fans - I already have these

What do you think? I run the AC almost constantly and drive the so cal freeways, but everything on the car will essentially be new. I would go with the griffin stock four our cars, but too much $$$, or the griffin universal, but it sticks out too far, and doesn't look stock at all from any of the pictures that I have seen of them installed.

Thanks in advance,

James

If your not going with aluminum, at least get a 3 row. I saw a couple different ones for around 170.00 new while surfing a search "automotive radiators".

The plan is to go with aluminum. The stock radiator is a 1 row plastic/aluminum piece. You can also get a 3 row brass and copper, but thought that the aluminum , even though a 1 row, would cool better due to the heat disappation. Any thoughts?

Just get the stewart water pump. Only 159.95 bucks for the aluminum one. Throw in another 10.95 for 180 thermo or drill out stock one. That pump price is the stage 2 also. It offers around 5 gpm than the stage 1. Don't freak out when you view the spec sheets and it says it might not come with aux inlet for heater hose I know for fact that the 23123 model (long sytle for serpentine) does come with it. So if you want to upgrade to a universal griffon or another radiator later that doesn't have to fitting for the heater hose return it's no problem just hook it up to the pump.

There from MI so I didn't pay any sales tax on it since I'm from IL (anyways a plus).

I plan on putting in the 180 buck griffon radiator, when my craps out. You could always look for one cheaper I think I found one for 160 one time.

I agree:
Go aluminum on the rad and at least a 3 row.
Stewart or comperable on the pump.
Water Wetter instead of antifreeze/water assuming you don;t live way up north somewhere.
