Wonder if tossing it in a canal would cool it?

Car initially started overheating a few weeks ago, boiling over, etc..

So I pick up a brand new aluminum radiator, as well as a 160* Thermostat and new radiator cap. Slap it all in. Now, car runs "cooler" initially, but still usually peaks out around 240* after driving, but generally stays at or slightly above 220* for about 30 min or so. Tried running 50/50 coolant, and straight water no difference. It was at 240* for about 30 minutes the other day, yet there was no boiling over. *shrug*

Not only that, but ever since the replacement now the power steering whines and the car surges to about 2100rpm on start up, then proceeds down to 1000rpm or so in the mornings. This all started immediately after the install, too.

Lake + car = problem solved ... I'm starting to believe this.

There's a possiblity my belt may not be at full tension, I need to check that later today. Doubtful, but possible.

I believe that the fan control sensor is set to come on at 220*. If you haven't changed that, it will still go up to 220* when driving but will get hotter when you shut it down because the waterpump & fan turn off.
