Once mine turn on, they usually don't turn off. They are set up to turn on with sensors. It's all automatic, and run thru relays. 3 one for each fan, and one for the AC circuit to turn one of the fans on.

I don't see why it would be bad... mechanical fans are always on too.

Just may wear out the fan motor a little quicker, and I hate the sound of an electric fan.

i only turn mine on when i know there is going to be a back up in traffic all the other times i just use the factory settings.

i dont see the need to run the fan when ur just starting the car for the day and it takes a few minutes to warm up so think all of the minutes the fan would be running when it doesnt really need to be, add that up and its alot over the years.

Well my fan just died, and as of right now I have NO gauges in my car (waiting for my autometers to come in). SO yesterday I'm going to the junkyard and I get there... my car stalls out and wont start... i'm like wtf, its overheating like crazy! I just bought a hayden fan switch but haven't installed it yet so I thought my ghetto rigged toggle switch died out. SO for about an hour and a half last night I'm sitting here putting in that fan switch just to realize that its not working! I get some test leads and hook my fan up to the battery directly and the damn thing isn't working.... now I have to goto the junkyard and pick up a fan. I think its because I was running it all the time... this sucks!!! btw, don't get the hayden 3652 switch, I bent the hell out of my rad. fins putting that bugger in... does anyone know if theres a thread-in switch I can get?
