flush and now high temps

I just fluished my coolant out today and I think I made a few mistakes......

First i didn't get the water out of the block. I just threw the garden hose into the thermostat opening. It ran clear out the radiator drain plug after a while. (mistake?)

I calculated the total capacity to be slightly mroe than 4 gallons. (not mistake)

I bought a 195 degree 'stat because thats what I thought was in there. There was a 160 degree stat in there. I put the 195 in because winter is approaching (mistake?)

Now.... I went to fill it up, so I put 1.5 gallons of antifreeze ina nd fired it up. I approached 2 gallons and it was full. I sure hope that the block holds 2 gallons. If not, I'm probably running near 90% antifreeze.

I took a small drive and the temps were hovering around 200-220F. This was higher than before, but I don't think I'm in trouble yet.

yeah when filling anything up in the radiator, i am always using 50/50 all the time when refilling to get things right, then once the coolant is about to spill out the radiator i put the cap back on, then i fill the little tank up to full hot, then i check back the next day and most likely it needs alittle bit more in the little tank to keep full cold.

a 160 to 195 is a big increase something like 180 can be used year round.

Welp, the heat sure isn't bad on those cold mornings.

I drove around for about an hour today is semi- city traffic and it never went above 220. I think I might siphon a bit of coolant out and add some clean water. I'll store the drained off stuff in another container to use if I need to put soem back in for whatever reason.

My thermostat housing gasket doesn't leak now!
