regarding heater core

I'm in the process of replacing my heatercore (aren't I lucky, its so much fun!) and I was wondering if some kind soul with a digital camera could take a picture of the hoses in the engine bay that run through the firewall to the core. It would help to reasure this newbie. Thanks.

Oh and I had an idea. Everywhere I've read about this replacement they say to remove the two hoses, but I was thinking it would be easier maybe to just clamp them so they dont let any more fluid through and just disconnect them from within the car. Having not done this kind of thing before though, I really don't know if this is even possible. Let me know guys. Thanks!

Not much really to the hoses... they clamp on to the heater core itself. The copper tubings you see that are coming out of the firewall which the hoses are on is part of the heater core... I don't think you should be to worried about dripping they won't leak that much ( a little but if you're replacing the core it's probably already made a mess {did mine once}). If you want to do it the easy way just get masking tape and label them then remove then theres no worries about seeing the routes of them.

Good call, I didn't realize the metal pipes on the core actually went through the firewall, I thought maybe the rubber tubes came through. Ah well thank you for the reply.

Yep no problem. That's what the board is for. The main thing is just take your time and the hard part is remembering where all the damn bolts go.

While you are doing the hard work, you might want to replace those heater hoses. Might as well do it all at once.

Damn these hoses are a PITA! got the leftmost (looking at engine from front of car) hose out with a good amount of tugging. I gave up after working on the other one for about an hour. SUCKS!
