Cooling Discuss all of the aspects of cooling that you can think of! Radiators, transmissions, electric fans, etc.

Interesting Observation.

Interesting Observation.

GM doesn't call for using "distilled water" in any cooling system.
in my 88 service manual for my T\A. or in the 2002 Service manual for my S-10.

from the 88 service manual..
"Mixture of water and good quality ethylene glycol based antifreeze ..."
doesnt' even suggest what mixture %..

from the 2002 service manual..
"50/50 mixture of CLEAN, DRINKABLE WATER and use only GM Goodwrench Dexcool....."
while the 02 Manual goes much more in depth with all the recomendations (for all fluids) it says nothing about requiring distilled water.

now im not saying that just because GM says u don't have to use it, that its not a good idea. cause it definatley IS a good idea to use it. but i just thought it was interesting..

Niether does Texaco who supplies Dexcool and in fact invented it. Texaco Dexcool says the same thing, "good quality tap water". I guess you have to interpret that, oh no, not another hot issue?
