relocation?
relocation?
is it possible to relocate a set of heat controls on my 91? i don't have ac and rarely use the heat on my car so to have that whole section taken up bothers me. i would still like to be able to turn the heat on in the fall when needed though.
any ideas or suggestions?

Run the switches into the ashtray. What are you planning on doing with that empty space left by the controls???

You need a 4 position switch and a cable slider for temp control. The four positions run the 12v blower power through the 3 resistors that are located on your heater box. You can go as crazy as you want by using a potentiometer and a servo motor for the temp control instead. Or you can change the geometry of the cable slide lever so that the slide travel is more compact in appearance. You may be able to find a compact servo system from a ford windstar van or some other donor. Using this system, the heater controls could be extremely compact. If you wish to retain the defrost gate and not just the heater, of course an additional servo will be required for that gate also. I like the idea of a custom console, but I dislike the idea of ditching the hvac in your car.
I have some opinions on cleaning up your engine bay also if you'd like to hear them. I know you are interested in show-quality installs.
Stop being so cheesy and secretive. There are many people watching that can offer advise that you havent even thought about asking.
Love the car...one of my top 3 for sure!:lala:

I'll drop you some mail sometime. Good luck with the project-- You have good taste. Say, are you planning on zoop sealing those parts that you're sending off to be polished? I've been fighting a loosing battle against oxidation.

i have yet to see that product in action....i would like to try it on some smaller parts but i can't chance it on the wheels in case it turns out wrong. just alot of elbow grease.

Get an overhead console and make the controls fit up in where the "reminder wheels" reside.
