Electric water pump opinions?

I want to switch over to an electric water pump. Ive seen CSI and Mezier (sp?) advertising streetable electric water pumps and I think it would take care of the problems that I want to eleminate from my system (tossed 2 belts on the highway before that resulted in severe overheating). The car is no longer a daily driver but I will still be taking it on some longer highway trips (I want to do the Hot Rod Power Tour) and I want to make sure that an electric pump is up to the task. I also drag race the car so the added HP from the lack of having to spin the pump is a plus. I figure id have to get a higher amp alternator to have the proper power to spin the pump but thats no biggie. So, what are you opinions on this topic? Please no electric pumps suck without any factual backup responses please. Thanks a lot for the help.

One of the guys in my dad's car club is running one on a daily driver 95 LT1 pushing mid 12's or so. The only problem he's had so far was his own fault, and due to a loose connection. I don't have any first hand experience with them though.

Did you find out why your pump was throwing belts? Loose or bent pulley maybe?

Well, the problem was a crap P.S. pump. I froze up two of them which smoked the bearings allowing the shaft to wobble around in its housing causing the belt to toss costing me all my accessories. The first time I knew the pump was going out but I tried to make it home anyway. I heard a thump when the belt snapped but I didnt think anything of it until I saw the temp gauge shooting up. The second time, a stupid little $.50 o-ring on the pressure line for my P.S. went out, draining all the fluid, freezing up the bearing again, etc. The weird part is neither of the two pumps made any noises before they went out. Im used to hearing loud pump whine before they go out but these two both went without a sound. Anyway, I dont like the idea of my motors health relying on one belt. There is always the chance that you dont see the temp gauge going up or whatever and since im going to be putting a lot of cash into my motor, I dont want to take any chances.
