Air conditioning lines?

Quick question. A long time ago, I took out the AC. I also cut off the ends of the (aluminum?) lines that protrude from the 'box' to the condensor, thinking I'd never put my AC back in. I would like to put the air system back in, realizing how dumb it was to take it out in the first place. So what I need to know is, is there an easy fix to this? I havent had a chance to pull off the cover of the 'box' but how far into the firewall do the lines run? Would they be something I could get at the junkyard and replace fairly easily? I dont think I can 'patch' the lines with tough rubber hose, I think the system has too high of pressures. Anyone have experience or know anything about this?

Thanks, Ben

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like you disconnected the line off of the bottom of the evaporator (or is it the one thats cut?). You will need a new high side line in either case (the orifice tube goes into that bottom connection).. I might recommend, since you're going to be redoing it, to use lines like are on my '91 GTA (where the high side line off of the evaporator comes up to a more easily servicable position for orifice tube and high side fitting). This will require a new evaporator and the associated high side line. The existing condenser will work fine (might flush it if its been getting dirt inside, etc). Hmmm... Hope I helped a little bit..

Whoops... forgot the picture... This is the best one I have at the moment that shows the lines.. One more thing, the bottom line that you refer to in your picture is part of the evaporator, so if you did cut that one, a new evaporator will serve just fine...
