Easy Fix For Fuel System Failure

The Bird is back on the road, after a week of rest. Polished, waxed and running better than ever, plus I forgot how much fun it is. Thanks to everyone who went down the dark road of wiring with me and gave good advice.

I now know that on single fan cars, it's the green and white wire to the fan relay that get's teed into for a manual fan switch. The fan relay is the one that does NOT have a grey wire going to it, on the driver's side firewall, one of two and actually the same part--to double check, if you pull it while your ac/and fan is on (ignition off) then turn on the key there will be no fan. I spliced into the fuel pump relay, and rendered my fuel pump silent, and my SES light, ECM, etc. Needless to say I was brickin.

Easy fix though. There is a wire, actually a couple taped together, orange and red, hanging to the left of the battery (not connected to battery though), or mounted somewhere around there, with a black fuse holder on the end--black plastic end cap. That fuse was fried (20 amp bus fuse) and kept anything else from being damaged. That fuse blows when juice backs up in the fuel pump circuit, as when I grounded out my relay by grounding the grey wire.

I had seen that wire (with fuse on the end), but didn't think there was a fuse at the end--thought it was a hookup for a second fan. A nice mobile mechanic pointed out the fuse though, and replaced it for a tidy sum. Now I am once again stoked and pricing SLP exhaust.
