want to fix a/c

my car has parts of an a/c system it's a 1986, but i have a 1988 motor in it with a serpentine setup there is no hose on the compressor it is open so i'm sure it's bad now, the evaporator line was sawed off, and i'm missing a condensor, i would need to replace all of this and the lines and convert it to r134 question is what is this high pressure switch for? i have dual fans running all the time, what connection is on the back of the compressor, i'm not sure if i have the wiring under the hood for it still where can i get these a/c parts?

Well if your car has a motor with a different belt system than the original had then you will probably need to go ahead and get a system from an 88 car. The pressure switch Im not sure about. I think it just turns the system off if the pressure gets too high or too low. Many of them are adjustable. I say if you are going to get all of the parts you listed you might as well just get a whole system. Just buy every single bit of it and install it and charge it. Not sure if you need to evacuate the system since it will be all new or not. Maybe someone else will know.

The compressor for the serpentine and v belt systems is different. So you would need a new compressor but you could sell the old one because having it open to the air doesnt make it go bad. The accumulator will need to be replaced because it goes bad when exposed to air. The switch you would need would be the low pressure cutoff. It should be wired in seris with the compressor clutch. It is something you could do even if the wiring is gone. The high pressure switch is also wired in seris with the compressor clutch. It shuts off the compressor in case the pressure gets to high.

ok cool, no the compressor is a serpentine off an 88 i have the whole 1988 motor including the serpentine drive and all accessories, so the compressor wont go bad if the hose has been off the back?

Nope itll be fine. All of the oil in the system is bad thou. Youll need a nitrogen flush to get rid of all the old oil.
