r12 to 134a conversion cooling question Help!
I just recently bought the kit to do the conversion after replacing my o rings behind the compressor. My system was empty.
My question was after replacing the two r12 to 134a fittings ,can I just charge the sytem with the new stuff (134a) or do I have to get all of the old r12 oil out of the system ?
The instructions say nothing about cross contamination of lubricants or anything else.
any help would be greatly appreciated..

The ester oil in the kit is compatible with R12 mineral oil.. Ideally, you should have the system brought to a vacuum for a while. Before you charge the system, get a new accumulator and orifice tube (the ford blue orifice tube makes it work better).

hey bro, i was running 134-A for awhile and it cooled me down but not enough, so this past summer my ac wasnt working so i found the leak and fixed, well anyways i filled the ac system with R-12 and i love it, its alot better than 134-A!!!! Our camaros were ment for R-12. it gets soo cold that i have to turn it down.

it is in your best interest to get the r12 vac'd out if you are going to retrofit in r134. the two refridgerants dont like being combined and can cause some problems later down the line.
its usually between $40-60 to get it done around here
