Name This Part

I guess this part was leaking somewhere like CRAZY, today.. I had no coolant in the radiator what so ever.. but there appeared to still be some in the block. I had to drive home, and the temp gauge was normal... and there was still coolant in the block, which I don't understand how... well I went to move this part, and the thing snapped one of the lines off..

does this thing have a name, and will it be cheap to replace?

Also, what's the chance of the engine seizing? The battery was basically completely dead when I went to restart it.. I took some hoses off, and forced cool water into them, and the orange dexcool approved coolant came out.. So that's how i know there was coolant still in the block.. I did that until the water was slightly warmer than the water going in.

Does the engine have to be pouring out steam before it seizes up, or what? Again, temp gauge was practically in the center constantly, sometimes going higher, but dropping back down. I think this is around 220? And is where it is normally at.

This is the heater core valve, it practically opens or closes the hot water flow to the heater core based on your A/C control settings (warm/cold etc). It is vacuum operated from the A/C control unit.

Not sure of the completely official name.

Hope this helps.

It is called the heater flow valve or heater diverter valve depending on where you go to get a new one. The manual calls it the diverter valve while parts stores call it the flow valve.
