Time to cool off my new 350!!!

What is the best dual-fan setup? Did the 3rd gen's ever come this way. It'd be sweet to stay as factory as possible. Also, since I'm switching from an auto to a manul tranny, what do I do with the trans. cooler line inputs in the radiator or does the T-5 use those too? Thanks a bunch, fellow f-body FREAKS!

Go to a junk yard and find a Dodge Intrepid or Eagle vision pull the fan set up.Or you could buy one new from https://www.ramchargers.com/cgi-bin/...801&cat4=13802 I run this fan a griffen radiator and a stock water pump never gets hotter than the 160 T-stat.Dont waste your money on high price fan set up try this first!

SWWAYTTT!! Alright, what if I want to retain my old radiator (I just had it boiled out)? Also, how easy is this fan setup to mount up and hook up to the LT1 harness? One more thing and I'll leave ya the heck alone...does the T-5 tranny use transmission cooler lines? If not, what do I do about the input/output fittings on the radiator? Just leave em' alone or plug 'em up? Thanx!

I'm just curious why the majority of you guy go to extremes on your cooling systems, I have a 84 trans am with a 89 350 motor using a stock 89 camaro 305 radiator with stock single electric fan.

I've pulled my 82 corvette on a dolly with no cooling problems at all now I would think thats alot more demand than just a built 350.

I'm not flaming any of your cars just curious why your would be running so hot that you need all this high dollar stuff to keep them cool.

I dont really know about the LT1 fan set up If they are duel fans it should not be a problem just cut and splice the wires together. On mounting you have three options 1st use those zip-tie things that go through the radiator,2nd use the stock fan mounts and make brackets to hold the set up,3rd (what I did) use the mounting tabs on the side of the shroud and make a bracket on each side of the radiator for them to bolt to.Also the bottom driver side mount needs to be removed it hits the steering box.It sounds like alot but its not and with any aftermarket set up your going to have to do the same.Or just get a stock duel fan setup doesnt work as well but less install problems http://www.thirdgenusa.com/THIRD%20G...RTS%20PAGE.htm go to the bottom of the page.

Jproz, I'm not sure what the cooling demands are of the LT1, and since the car had a weakling 305 in it stock, I'm just going the safest way possible and install a dual-setup to make sure I don't cook my project!

i have an ls1 dual fan setup on my car. works great. same plugin as 3rd gen. not alot of fab is required to mount them. you could use a lt1 setup also, its just slightly different from the ls1. just make sure you put one relay per fan. wire it properly and youll be fine. hey eman how is a lt1 or ls1 fan setup expensive? that intrepid setup is $239. thats expensive. go to a swap meet and you can find lt1/ls1 fans for $50-$60. look in your local auto trader for a car being parted out. check ebay a freind just got a ls1 setup for $58 shiped. thats cheap.

I paid $60 from the junk yard and its $80 new at Ramchargers.I heard that the LT-LS1 fans work good too just never tried them I know that intrepid fan work. Also before I tried the intrepid set up I did a good search for electric fans and found that 1-the best working ones had a shroud 2-one of the best was the 11in. dual Becool but they want to much $280.Then I was looking at a Buick GN site and found out a lot of guys were using the ramcharger/intrepid fans.If it can keep a 10-11sec turbo GN cool it should and does work for our cars.

Along the lines of the shrouds...what's the best intake setup? The LT1 I got is from a 9C1 patrol car (Impala/Carpice) and all it has is a shroud on top of the motor, but no intake plumbing whatsoever. I like the looks of the 3RD gen TPI setups. What do I gotta do to make that system work??
