What was GM thinking with this hose clamp?

What was GM thinking with this hose clamp?

I was replacing my thermostat today and I took off the throttle body and noticed these stuped hose clamps. I took both of them off and am going to replace them with a regular hose clamp. Just thought I would share this...

Those are the infamous Weitek tower clamps. GM used those from the 1960s-early 90's I think they used them because they are easy to install in the factory.

I actually like those. They are a nice touch on a restoration. A lot of people notice them on my '71 and '73 T/A.

That would be pretty cool to have those on a restored project. I guess I never thought of it that way. I'm still taking them off

you can get them at a hose shop that makes your braided hoses and hydraulic lines.

that should help.

Thanks for showing me that. I like the look of those. Looks like they would work well with rubber.

What's nice is they don't tear up hoses like worm clamps!

Excellent clamps, used these on fighter aircraft systems. DRMO has these for sale, (used, good as new) only @ auction prices, still cheap. Checkout the Fed Drmo site.
