If you have the stock rad with the plastic side tanks you may have a crack that is not visible. A common problem is when you remove the old hoses if you worked them off instead of cutting them off, you place stress on the plastic and you get a crack that may not show up until it is under pressure. You may have to pull off the hose and get a light and a magnifier and inspect the area around the hose fitting. Also look directly under the hose fitting on the rad, thats a common place for it to crack. It is unusual to have to tighten the clamp excessively to form a good seal.
