Trans temp sender??

Hey all i was wondering on where to put my trans temp sender?

a friend of mine said to tap into the trans pan and it will also act as a drain plug. anyone ever heard of this? also autometer sells a adapter for it.

i dunno which way to go.

and if i go into the trans pan which way would i route the gauge wire?

thanks

That's exactly what I've done with my 700R4 in my Suburban. If you go that route, check for clearances so your not placing it in the way of any mechanisms.

In the pan will give you the best readings, but close to trans in the out line will be very close to the same readings.

I like going that away myself.

I buy a triple female T at the hardware store, that my sender will screw into, then buy 2 double male threaded nipples. Put the nipples in the T, put sender in the T, cut the steel cooling line. The one that the fluid goes out of (out of trans into rad cooler, not the one that flows out of cooler back to trans)

with 2 very short pc. of rubber trans cooler line, I put the T inline. Hook up and run everything and it's done
