Jet Switch or Factory Replacement?

I am going to replace my fan switch because I believe it has gone bad. Should I replace it with an OEM or JET switch?? If I used the Jet switch will my SES light come on??? I have the stock ECM and Chip.

Your talking about the Passenger side Fan Switch?

If so, the jet sensor will not make your SES light come on, this sensor is not connected to your ECM. Only the Driver side sensor is. This, however is the way my TPI is wired.
I have the 195 jet switch on my car and have had no problems.

Save yourself some money. If you are considering replacement of your OEM fan switch and want one that activates at 200deg find it cheaper at: http://www.madvet.com in the cooling section.

To test this, remove connector from switch and put ignition key in the "on" position. Ground connector and fan should come on. Definitely get a low temp switch if it is bad.

Should work. The Jet fan switch has a different plug for it, so you need to cut and splice a new pigtail on it. You can't exactly go back to stock without putting the stock pigtail on it.

Sure, as long as you have a 305/350 with the fan switch on the passenger side head.

I ordered the switch and pigtail. However, my stock pigtail connector plugged right up to the new switch and works just fine.
If your connector is broken or hardened by heat etc., get a new pigtail also. Easy to install, one splice, cheap insurance.

The Hypertech and Jet fan switch kits come with the pigtail but, you can order just the fan switch or both from madvet.com also. Madvet link and part #'s are posted in previous posts.

Yes, the fan switch will work with your 91rs 305, single fan, just fine. I have this same setup in my 91rs 305. The switch is located between #6 and 8 cylinder plugs, passenger side head. There is a single wire lead to it.

Just put in a cooler themostat, replace the OEM fan switch with one of your choice. Run cooler.

Pretty common for the female end of the pigtail to be melted or cracked from heat and age. Both of my 3rd gens needed new fan switch pigtail connectors too.

You really shouldnt need a harness unless you plan to activate the fans from inside the car. Thats up to you.

From reading your posts, it appears that what your saying is that you need a new pigtail connector and a cooler activated fan switch. http://www.Summitracing.com sells the Jet switch and pigtail kit, #JET-60600 and the HYPERTECH switch and pigtail kit, #HYP-4026 (176 deg on) and #HYP-4028 (180 deg on) kits. I also listed the Madvet info in a previous post for cost compairison, alternatives. Any of these kits will help your car run cooler. Not sure about the NAPA switch, you might inquire.

Hope that helps.

send me a PM if I can be of any more assistance.

What replacement temp switch did you purchase and plan to install? Kinda lost me there... The 180 themostat will open sooner than the OEM unit but, alone wont keep your motor running cooler if your fan switch doesnt activate at a lower temp.

Hey fellas, I just put the fan switch from madvet, that one of you sugested. With a 180 degre thermostat. It`s a stock 92 305 tbi, auto. It seems to me it must be kicking my fan on once the 180 thermostat opens up. Like 150 degres on my instrument panel. Way too soon for me. Any suggestions ????????? Idid put the switch I bought fom autozone back in. it kicks the fan on around 220 or so.
