Heavy duty coolant fan switch/sensor

My heavy duty coolant fan switch (the one on passenger side between the rear plugs) is bad and keeps my second fan running all the time.
I'm going to replace it, how much coolant will I lose when I take it out?
I've never replaced one of these and I don't want to be under there in that tight spot and have coolant spilling everywhere.
Thanks in advance!

When I replaced mine I don't remember how much coolant came out, but I don't think it was that much. I added some to the overflow but not much.

Check your wiring diagram first before you declare the switch bad,, most Birds have the on signal fron that switch(a ground) hooked to the primary fan on circuit so if both fans aren't running constantly, problem may be elseware like secondary fan relay..

Yeah it's not the relay I checked that with a known good one and same thing.
It was only the secondary fan always on not the primary.
I got under there and pulled the harness off the switch and problem solved fan not always running.
I actually have a manual switch hooked up to the secondary relay from years ago when I had an overheating problem so I can still turn the fan on and off manually.
Do I really need to replace this switch or would it be ok to just leave it unplugged?
I've been reading this is just a "safety net" in case the ecm doesn't do it's job turning on the fans.
The dealer wants $25 for it and Nappa wants $19,I don't wanna waste the money if I really don't need it.

Quite a bit. Drain the coolant first, then pull the switch with a catch pan and let it drain out.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I went to Nappa and got a new one, problem solved!
I lost quite a bit of coolant but I had a big catch pan so no problem.
I figured it was on the car for a reason so might as well replace it.
