91 1le fan switch control problem

I have search the forum and not found this issue yet. I have a 91 1le 305 5speed, single fan, aftermarket a/c installed. There is no wire on the fan switch on the passenger side head. The fan does come on at about 240deg.
Is that the way the fan wiring is supposed to be hooked up?
or should have it been hooked to the switch on the passenger head originally?

Thanks for the help.

Man, I got the same question. I have a 1991 1LE, I also have the switch between #6-#8 cylinders with no wire going to it. I looked everywhere, and I cannot find the wire or harness that goes to it. I do not know how hot mine will get until the fan kicks on. It got up past 220 on the gauge and I started to worry, so I headed home. I tried to get a fan switch that comes on at a lower setting, but I guess that does no good if there is no wire on it! Maybe it controled by the ECM. Hopefuly an updated prom could make it come on quicker. Thanks, now I know I am not crazy for not finding a wire!

By the way, What A/C system are you running? I am getting a Vintage aire unit installed this week. Any tips? Thanks again!

You may want to jack the car up and check near the starter it could have just came loose and just hanging there. I also believe the ECM is programed to turn on the fan if the engine gets too hot. quinda like a fail safe system where if the fan switch failed the ECM would eventually turn it on, but don't quote me on this.
