Where did my fan switch harness go?!

I thought I was having the problem most people were having of the fan switch not kicking in soon enough, so I bought a fan switch from Mid America, and when I got my car on jackstands, I got a surprise. I have the fan switch, between #6 & #8 cylinders, but there is no harness connected to it, or anywhere near it! Where would this wiring harness come from? I need to some how trace back so I can find where it went.

I have only one cooling fan. Is this switch for the double fan setup? Do I need a different switch and harness adapter for the primary switch?

Another question- what is the switch betwen the #1 & #3 cylinders with a green wire and a blade type connector?

Here is a pic of the switch between #6 & #8:

On my 84Z the sending unit between 1&3 is for the analog gauge, the fan switch is between 6&8 and the wire to the switch is a green wire in a harness on right side of the intake that also contains the wire for the electric choke and the alternator. Stock plug is a male pin type that pushes on.

The wire for that fan switch gets fed down between the a/c compressor bracket and the cylinder head (in the big loom).. My approach would be to disconnect the starter wiring, knock sensor and bring the serpentine bracket on the passenger side off so you can bring that portion of the wiring harness up... Then see if you can find the (green?) wire that goes to the fan switch...
