Overheating and stumped
Overheating and stumped
Ok My car has been overheating and I am stumped and need a little help. Ok first off the cooling fan isnt coming on when its suppose too. So I took a paper clip and did the test the fan came on so ok I figured it was the Fan Relay. I buy the relay installed it Fan never came on.
So my question is how man relays are there for the fans are there 3 one for each fan and the relay thats on the driver side by the fuel pump relay ?
I also changed the hoses and CTS any help pictures or anything will be useful thanks.

On the p/s between the back two spark plugs, screwed into the block is a fan switch. Pull the wire off of it, and with the key in the on position (don't start it), touch the wire to ground. The fan should come on. If not you could have a bad fan switch. I like the hypertech fan switch from summit racing. Turns the fan on much sooner than stock.

You can touch the wire to the engine block itself, a bolt screwed onto the engine block, the body or frame of the car near the temp. switch wire etc. There are many sources of a good grounding point. Make sure the ground you use is clean so you get a good connection.

I wouldnt get the hypertech switch. Go with the Jet fan switch. Comes on at 195 and cools to 185. Hypertech wants you to also get the chip too when you plug in the Hypertech fan switch.

i don't think you can go wrong with either fan switch
i'd also recommend installing a 180 stat, preferably one of the balnced sleeve/high flow ones
do both and you should be all set
