82 T/A runs @ 220 forever

My 82 runs @ 220 all the time no matter what the outside temp is, or driving condition (unless I stay above 60 mph, then it cools off to 200) It has the original clutch fan and the fan starts spinning right at start up and never disengages ( or at least I cant tell if it does) It also heats up to 220 fairly fast (faster than my 96 Z28 did) Would switching to a bolt on flex fan be more benificial to cooling than the stock clutch fan? I would like to stay away from electric fans as I already have enough wiring to trace and track when something goes wrong. I will probably change out the thermostat to a cooler one sometime this summer.

The flex fan will be no better than a correctly operating thermal clutch fan.

Those temps however are not that bad, actually normal.
Lower Thermostat, good system flush and check the clutch.

I had an 83Z28, I live in the middle of the desert, and I had to change mine about every 2 years, If it has never been changed, a good thermal fan clutch would probaby do you good. I would stay away from a flex fan as it would never pull the air of a factory fan, and will drain power too. I would not sweat a solid 220 in 110 degree weather.

Good luck
