temperature gauge

Hi all,

2 days ago my temperature gauge just stopped working. It sits on 40 and does not budge. It was working fine on Tuesday and then Wednesday can't get it to move. what should I be looking at as the cause of this sudden stop

thanks

what car? what eng? temp switch is where i'd start. depending on the vehicle but most third gens its on the left side of the upper block in be tween plugs 1@3. single wire. remove it and ground it to a good ground if it pegs the guage to high replace the switch.
