OK I searched for the solution for this with no luck. Very short problem.

The car runs about 240 deg. all the time..... fast, slow ... doesn't matter. It does take a short time to get up there and at night when its cool it will drop down to about 220. Would a new thermostat fix this? There is plenty of fluid and no air flow problems. Fan also turns on fine.

When the car heats up touch the radiator. If its warm then the coolant is flowing through it so the thermostat and water pump are working. When the thermostat opens is another question though.

is the car really running that hot?does it ping and stutter when it is that hot?if it doesnt the problem may be in your temp sensor...if not sure about thermostat that would be the easiest thing to try first...4 or 5 bucks and about 10 minutes with a break to clean the gasket off...if you change thermostat make sure you put it in under the gasket(did it wrong my first time and it sucked) and dont cake on gasket sealer the boys at autozone like to push sealer...i never use sealer on a thermostat.and it never leaks.if you do use it use one drop and spread it with your finger very thin...hope this helps...

Ok just so that if anyone else has the same problem.

To fix my problem all I did is drain the radiator, flush the system with water, replaced the thermostat and gasket, and put new fluid in. Problem solved runs under 200 even on days of 105 temp. here.
